What is the BA (Hons) in Marketing & Digital Media?

The BA (Hons) in Marketing & Digital Media is a comprehensive four-year, Level 8 degree course designed to prepare students for high-impact careers in the modern digital business landscape. The program balances foundational business strategy with hands-on, creative digital media production skills.

Years 1 & 2 (Foundations): The first two semesters focus on core marketing, management, and foundational business subjects alongside practical tools like social media technologies. Starting in Year 2, students dive deeper into specialized topics, covering consumer psychology, marketing research, applied services marketing, and the mechanics of direct and database marketing.
Year 3 (Practical Experience & Placement): In the fifth semester, students level up their creative and technical skills through modules like web development and digital creativity & design. The entire second half of Year 3 (Semester 6) is dedicated to an industry work placement or international study opportunity, allowing students to gain invaluable, real-world workplace experience before their final year.

The work placement or study abroad takes place in Semester 8. It allows students to gain real experience of working in a marketing environment. Companies who have been involved in the placements include: Coca Cola, Aer Lingus, Ben Sherman, Bulmers (C+C), Bank of Ireland and Advertising Agencies such as Core, and TBWA. Students can also opt to study abroad in one of SETU Waterford’s partner institutions in Europe, Canada or the USA.

Marketing & Digital Media / Digital Marketing with Analytics

This episode focuses on two digital marketing offerings at SETU: Marketing and Digital Media, available on the Waterford campus; and Digital Marketing with Analytics, which can be studied at the Carlow campus. The BA (Hons) in Marketing & Digital Media is a four year degree course, which prepares students for employment in marketing in the digital age. The BSc and the BSc (Hons) in Digital Marketing with Analytics provides a space to explore the customer and commercial focus of marketing, the creativity of design and digital technology, and the analytical world of data. Programme Directors of the courses Denis Harris and Denise Earl, were joined by graduates Megan Lanigan and Jack Cleere, and by Sarah Sunday, a current student of Digital Marketing with Analytics
