Student Email Account
Upon completion of registration all students are allocated a student email account. This email account will be used for all communication following commencement of your course. It is the institute policy that all official email is sent to this account and once you are a registered student we will no longer send communications to personal email addresses. It is extremely important to set up and check your student email account regularly for any correspondence with the Institute. Your username and password will be provided to you in your registration letter/email which you will receive to confirm commencement of your course.

Part-time SETU students have access to the same range of facilities and supports as other SETU students.
The Student Hub list a variety of online supports and services.
The Lifelong Learning Helpdesks on each campus are there to assist all part-time students

Carlow / Wexford Courses - timetables for part-time SETU courses that are run from Carlow / Wexford are available here
Waterford Courses - timetables for Waterford courses will be made available to you by your Course Leader or via your course page on Moodle once registered.
Academic Calendar
The SETU Academic Calendar – available here - typically runs as follows:
Semester One: lectures start in mid-September and examinations finish in late December
Semester Two: lectures start in mid-January and examinations finish in mid-May
The delivery models for part-time courses can vary greatly from course to course. Please see the course webpage or contact LLL for delivery information on your course of interest.
Student Assistance Fund for Part-time Students
The Student Assistance Fund (SAF) for Part-time Students provides support to SETU part-time students who are experiencing extreme financial difficulties and/or have experienced a major change of circumstances. The SAF is open to applications from registered part-time SETU students who can provide documented evidence that they are experiencing extreme financial difficulties. The SAF is subject to availability and eligibility and it is governed by National & EU regulations.
What is covered under the SAF:
- Costs associated with child care, transport to SETU and books and course materials may all be eligible for support;
- Tuition, Registration or Examination fees will not be supported by the SAF.
How are applications assessed?
- Each application will be assessed on its own merits based on the detailed information provided by the applicant including documentary evidence of all monthly income and expenditure as set out in the application form;
- This information only will be used: (i) to assess your application for assistance; and (ii) for audit purposes and may be subject to audit.
- Applicants may be invited for interview in relation to an application.
- Applicants will be notified of the outcome of your application via email.
- The decision is valid for the current academic year and payment of the grant will be subject to satisfactory class attendance (verified by records of your class attendance).
- If an application is unsuccessful, the applicant may re-apply as outlined in your notification e-mail.
