A Next-Gen AI Platform with Sustainability at its Core

Feedalpha, a fast-growing Carlow-based tech company, partnered with Walton Institute at South East Technological University (SETU) to develop GreenSphere—an innovative platform that combines the power of AI with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

GreenSphere aims to redefine how small and medium businesses manage social media content, offering intelligent automation, real-time insights, and personalised engagement—all while minimising the carbon footprint of AI technologies.

“We’re building more than just a next-gen language model—we’re creating an energy-efficient AI platform that drives real results for SMEs while cutting emissions.”

From Discovery to Innovation: A Research Journey

Feedalpha’s mission is to simplify social media management for SMEs globally—and the collaboration with SETU is helping turn that vision into reality.

The collaboration began with a Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) through the ENTIRE European Digital Innovation Hub at Walton Institute. This helped Feedalpha assess the potential of AI in their operations and prepare for deeper integration of advanced technologies.

This led to:

  • An AI Innovation Sprint Voucher focused on knowledge transfer and opportunity mapping
  • Additional Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers for deeper R&D exploration
  • A successful application to the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP)

The GreenSphere project was born out of this evolving engagement, supported by researchers in the Programmable & Autonomous Systems (PAS) division and ICS Technology Gateway at Walton Institute.

“GreenSphere is not just a project—it’s a model for how AI can serve both business and the environment.”

Technical Expertise Driving Impact

The partnership gave Feedalpha access to top-tier talent and research capability, supporting both innovation and business growth. SETU’s Walton Institute provided deep technical and research expertise in:

  • AI systems architecture and sustainable deployment
  • Advanced software engineering and testing for scalability
  • Energy-efficient algorithm development
  • Real-time analytics and automation

From a two-person team, Feedalpha is now scaling up to seven employees, with plans to grow further as GreenSphere evolves. The project is already shaping how Irish SMEs view AI adoption, encouraging a shift toward ethical, scalable, and sustainable digital tools.

This project is part-funded by the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme, co-financed by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021–2027.
