At SETU, we want to acknowledge the contribution that you make to society and wish to reward this with the allocation of additional points through the SETU Rising Stars scheme.
This exciting scheme offers our CAO applicants who have completed or are currently completing their Leaving Certificate or QQI FE course, to apply for additional points under a number of categories. You can apply, demonstrating your achievements and participation, under the following categories - sports, active citizenship, creative arts and innovation and entrepreneurship.
Applications will be assessed by SETU with successful applicant’s assigned additional CAO points. Your admission to SETU therefore will be based not only on your academic qualifications, but also your achievements in the relevant category. Offers will be made in accordance with the CAO offer schedule and protocols*.
CAO applicants who have completed or are currently completing their Leaving Certificate or QQI FE course, may apply under a number of categories including sports, active citizenship, innovation and entrepreneurship, and creative arts. Application for the scheme is via the online forms below. The close date for application is 1 May, 2024.
*Some courses are excluded from this scheme.
Application forms for rising stars
Whatever your academic and career goals may be, SETU encourages CAO applicants with a passion for sports, creative arts, active citizenship, or innovation and entrepreneurship to apply for additional points under the SETU Rising Stars Entry Scheme. Don’t be hindered by the thought that you cannot apply because you want to study science or business.
Note that to be eligible to apply, you must have completed, or are currently completing, your Leaving Certificate or QQI FE course.
You must complete an online application which consists of a number of sections including your personal details, current/previous education in addition to the relevant category achievements and ambitions.
Supporting documentation is required for achievements outlined and could include certificates, evidence of official recognition or participation, references, published articles or more.

If you apply under a number of categories for additional points and are successful in more than one category, the highest points in a singular category will be awarded. Points attained across a number of categories under the SETU Rising Stars scheme cannot be accumulated.
Open date: The scheme will open for application in December 2023.
Closing date: 1 May 2024.
Notification of outcome: Applicants will be advised of the outcome in July 2024.
