Young Academy Ireland (YAI) is delighted to open applications for its 2026 cohort. Applications opened on Friday 18 July and will close on Friday 26 September.
Young Academy Ireland (YAI) is an interdisciplinary organisation of early-career researchers and innovators (ECRIs) that brings together individuals who work collaboratively for the benefit of society.
YAI represents early career-researchers on the island of Ireland and contributes to societal change through interdisciplinary dialogue and public engagement. YAI will, in addition, facilitate its members to contribute effectively to the development of all-island research and cultural life, to ensure that ECRIs are adequately represented and can actively participate in discussions that address global issues.
YAI strives for a membership that embodies equality, diversity and inclusion, as is also reflected in the variety of disciplines its membership is drawn from. It is a dynamic forum for early-career researchers, providing an inspiring and creative environment for the exchange and development of innovative ideas.
This four-year membership connects early-career researchers and innovators across Ireland in a collaborative, interdisciplinary network focused on societal impact and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, scholars at risk, and professionals who operate in academia, government, industry, and NGOs.
Young Academy Ireland (YAI), established in 2023 under the auspices of the Royal Irish Academy, is part of a global movement of national young academies.
