South East Technological University (SETU) was delighted to host a series of strategic engagements this week with four of Ireland’s Horizon Europe National Contact Points (NCPs), aimed at boosting awareness and participation in European research funding programmes.
On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, SETU welcomed Dr Martha Cahill, NCP for Horizon Europe Cluster 1 – Health, to the university’s Waterford campus. Dr Cahill met with researchers and members of the Research Support team to provide valuable insights into upcoming funding calls and to offer tailored advice on proposal preparation in the health research domain.
Today, SETU’s Carlow campus hosted three additional NCPs. Dr Sergio Fernandez Ceballos, NCP for Horizon Europe Cluster 4 – Industry; Stephen O’Reilly, NCP for Horizon Europe Cluster 4 – Digital; and Dr Jane Carrigan, NCP for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), met with SETU researchers to discuss opportunities across industrial, digital, and researcher mobility schemes. The session provided attendees with expert guidance on European collaborative research opportunities, priorities for future calls, and how best to position SETU research for success in competitive EU programmes.
SETU was also pleased to welcome Ann Dooley, Senior Technology Transfer Expert with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) for Enterprise Ireland. Ann shared guidance on how researchers and businesses can connect with international partners through the EEN and highlighted opportunities to strengthen innovation and commercialisation through EU programmes.
These engagements, coordinated by SETU’s Research Support team, reflect the university’s strong commitment to growing its European research footprint and fostering impactful collaborations in health, digital, and advanced manufacturing.
