The EU-CONEXUS European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability is now open for seed funding applications. The call invites applicants to develop small-scale internal collaborative projects from challenges across the field of Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability (SmUCS). Staff can apply until Tuesday, 30 April 2024.

Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability is a challenge-driven education and research discipline. The nine-university alliance which includes South East Technological University (SETU), aims to address global and local challenges by tackling the environmental, technical, economic and societal needs of our coastline.

The objectives of seed funding are to enhance collaboration between EU-CONEXUS partners in education, research and innovation. Research and academic teams from EU-CONEXUS partner universities can apply for funding of up to €4,400.

Each proposal will be assessed on three main criteria:
•    Scientific/academic excellence: Relevance of the project with regards to the societal challenge of Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability, scientific contribution and innovation of the proposed project, appropriateness, completeness and clarity of the methodology.
•    Impact: Impact of proposed activities and results, in particular for EU-CONEXUS, expected outcomes.
•    Quality & efficiency of implementation: work plan, organisation, budget coherence with regards to project ambition.

Proposals involving more EU-CONEXUS partner universities will be prioritised. Further details and a list of criteria can be found here.
