Sandra Murnane, a graduate of the BSc Intellectual Disability Nursing programme, and recipient of HRB summer student research project, was recently published in the British Journal of Nursing.

The publication entitled “Death, dying and caring: exploring the student nurse experience of palliative and end-of-life education” was supervised by Dr Mary Reidy and Ms Geraldine Purcell.  

Sandra’s work was previously commended at the Royal College of Surgeons’ 40th annual International Nursing and Midwifery Research and Education Conference in 2021.  

A winner of the Stream 6-Oncology, Palliative and Ethical Care Poster Pitch, Sandra is currently working as a Nurse Manager at Carlow Care of the Elderly Day Care Centre and a staff nurse at Hillview Nursing Home in Carlow.  

Sandra is keen to remain research active in all areas of nursing and healthcare research.
