There is no fee to make an FOI request, however, fees may apply for the time and resources needed to locate and copy records:
- Search and retrieval fees may be charged at a standard rate of €20.00 per hour.
- Photocopying costs €0.04 per page.
- No charges apply if the total cost is under €101.
- If the cost is €101 or more, full fees apply.
- The maximum fee that can be charged is €500.
- If the estimated cost exceeds €700, the university may refuse to process the request unless you agree to refine it to reduce the cost.
Review and Appeal Fees:
- Internal review (Section 21): €30
- Reduced fee: €10 (for medical card holders and their dependants)
- Appeal to the Information Commissioner (Section 22): €50
- Reduced fee: €15 (for medical card holders and their dependants)
For personal records, only copying charges may apply—and only if a large number of records are involved.
