Biography

Dr. Omer Ali is currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher at Walton Institute (West Campus, SETU) investigating real-time application of lightweight machine learning
models on embedded platforms for WSN and IoT applications. He is also actively involved in investigating the impact of battery utilization, its State of Health (SOH) and State of Charge (SOC) especially in low-power electronics applications including WSN and IoT. During his PhD tenure, Dr. Ali proposed a novel MAC protocol to enhance the device lifetime of battery powered electronic devices.

Currently, he is actively engaged in applied AI research in Smart Agriculture, Food Processing, and Health care related applications.

Prior to joining SETU, he served as a senior lecturer at NFC Institute of Engineering & Technology (NFC IET) Pakistan in the department of Electrical Engineering since 2010.

During his tenure at NFC IET Multan, Pakistan, Dr. Ali taught the following undergraduate courses:

  1. Computer Networks
  2. Digital Logic Design
  3. Programming Fundamentals
  4. Object Oriented Programming I & II
  5. Wireless & Mobile Communications
  6. Digital Signal Processing
