Previously he worked as a research fellow in the area of trust and security at the TSSG, Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). He holds PhD and MSc degrees from WIT and BSc honours degree in computer science from Dublin Institute of Technology. He has published research articles in conferences and journals in the areas of ICT security, trust, privacy, critical infrastructure protection and service-oriented computing. Hisain’s experience includes working with SMEs and large companies as partners in research projects and providing consultancy services. He has worked and took leading roles on several Irish and EU projects such as sTRUST, CoMiFin (Critical Financial Infrastructure Protection Middleware), Pripare (Preparing Industry to Privacy-by-design by supporting its Application in Research) and Aniketos (Secure and Trustworthy Service Composition).
Engagement and Collaboration
Dr. Elshaafi worked on several joint research projects with partners from across Europe including industrial, research and academic organisations. Examples of companies included HP, SAP, Airbus, Thales, Atos, Engie and others. Some of the academic and public research partners were Cardiff University, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Trilateral research, Trialog, and the American University of Paris.
