Biography

I am a lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Lifelong Learning where I work on the Masters in Education and Doctoral Pathway programmes and specialise in the areas of reflective practise, professional practice, mentoring and practical pedagogy. I am also a Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities where I lecture in French, specialising in the areas of literature, poetry and artistic expression on the BA (Hons) Arts and Psychology programmes.

Before joining SETU in 1997, I worked as a Lecturer in French language, culture and literature at the University of Ulster, the University of Leeds, and the University of Limerick where I pursued a Post Graduate Certificate In Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. I have also worked in France in the State sector as an English language ‘assistante’.

I obtained a BA (single honours) in French, and a Doctorate of Philosophy (DPhil) in the area of French literature from the University of Ulster, Coleraine. In my doctoral research, I examined the theme of place in the works of Marcel Proust.

Since joining SETU, I have pursued further postgraduate studies attaining first class honours Masters degrees in the areas of Education Management and Applied Spirituality.

In 2025 I was awarded the SETU Teaching Excellence Award.

My ongoing research straddles the areas of education, literature and applied spirituality and I am a frequent contributor to conferences nationally and internationally.

I serve as a journal reviewer for the education journal ‘International Journal of Reflective Practice’.
