Significant support is available to small and medium-sized businesses, non-governmental and civil society non-profit organisations, young people, researchers, farmers, and public bodies, to name a few.

Details:

The goal of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. There are two types:

  • Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: Fund the mobility of researchers outside Europe. Fellowship lasts 2-3 years, with first 1-2 years spent in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory return phase of 1 year to SETU. Only nationals or long-term residents of Ireland can apply.
     
  • European Postdoctoral Fellowships: Open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research career. These fellowships take place in SETU and can last between 1 and 2 years. Researchers of any nationality can apply.

Suited to:

PhD students who will have defended their VIVA by the deadline or Postdoctoral researchers with max 8 years research experience. A mobility rule applies to all PFs, consult the Guide for Applicants.

On Offer:

The EU provides support for the recruited researcher in the form of a living allowance, mobility allowance, if applicable, family, long-term leave and special needs allowances. In addition, funding is provided for research, training and networking activities and management and indirect costs.

Enterprise Ireland leads the national support network for Horizon Europe, working to increase participation by Irish companies and academic institutions in the EU’s main instrument for funding research in Europe, visit: https://horizoneurope.ie/.
Through a range of supports, Enterprise Ireland provides funding to researchers in academic institutions to develop applications to Horizon Europe.
 

Logging Expression of Interest of Funding Application

If you are preparing a funding application in adherence with SETU policy, please log your Expression of Interest via our internal record system Pure to notify and receive guidance and support from the research office, TTO, and research finance team members.

  • To do this, please log in under your profile here, identify the fund opportunity and create your draft application. If the opportunity is not available, please email [email protected] and we will add the opportunity for you. Video guide for doing this is available here.
  • Once you have taken this step we will assign a programme officer, we will be in touch with next steps.
  • Please note the PURE system does not submit to the funder/agency, it tracks what stage the proposal is at and the workflow process facilitates the review and endorsement stages.
  • The PI/Applicant must follow the individual guides for submission as provided by the agency/funder provided their proposal and associated budget has been reviewed and approved via the Research Office and Research Finance Team.

Applicants progressing an application to an Erasmus+ funding call are required to complete the Erasmus+ Application Notification.  Its purpose is to help to identify the nature of the Erasmus application (e.g. education, mobility or research) and thus the appropriate Office within the University to support and approve the application.
