Croke Park in Dublin has witnessed many famous contests, but on 21 March it hosted a different kind of battle: ZeroDays, the world’s largest in-person Capture the Flag (CTF) competition.
Over 150 teams from 15 countries, made up of students and cybersecurity professionals, competed across eight hours of intense challenges.

SETU's students from the Department of Computing were strongly represented, with 14 student teams taking part. Among the standout results, second-year team RawDogz, including Nazariy Buryak, Ihor Maslovskyi, Myroslav Sliusarchuk and Bohdan Klymov, placed fifth in the college category, while softcrime, a team of first-year Cybercrime and second-year Software Development students, finished eighth.
In the Industry category, third-year Cybersecurity student, Ivan Nikolskiy, and lecturer Mark Cummins paired up, delivering an exceptional performance. They won first place in the Industry/Open category. A fantastic achievement for everyone involved and a strong reflection of the talent within SETU.
"I am immensely proud of our students' outstanding performance at ZeroDays. To see 14 teams from the Department of Computing compete on a world stage against professionals and students from 15 countries is a testament to the dedication and talent within our department. Well done to everyone involved."
