South East Technological University (SETU) congratulates Dr Ultan McCarthy on delivering the keynote address at the prestigious IEEE Cyber Physical Radio Week, hosted by Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), USA, in April this year.

Dr McCarthy, a lecturer in the Department of Science and joint programme leader for SETU’s MSc and Higher Diploma in Sustainable Agri-Food Systems, was invited to deliver a keynote entitled Drivers, challenges and hot topics in the Digital Transformation of Agri-Food Systems.”

These global conversations are vital as we work to solve the complex challenges facing our food systems today.

His address explored global trends in agri-tech innovation, digital connectivity, and the pressing need for sustainable transformation across food systems. Speaking to a diverse audience of researchers, technologists, and policy influencers, Dr McCarthy highlighted the role of cyber-physical systems and emerging digital tools in building more resilient, efficient and climate-smart agri-food networks.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr McCarthy said, “It was an honour to represent SETU and Ireland on an international stage at Georgia Tech, and to share insights on how digital technologies are reshaping the future of agriculture and food.
