Members of Ireland’s National Ambulance Service (NAS) were awarded at SETU’s conferring ceremonies in Carlow.
28 members of the NAS achieved their Bachelor of Arts in Applied Leadership and People Management degrees. The conferring marks a major milestone in the continued professional development of National Ambulance Service personnel and the strengthening of leadership within Ireland’s emergency medical services.
“These graduates exemplify the leadership and professionalism that underpin the National Ambulance Service. Their achievement demonstrates a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and the continuous improvement of patient care across Ireland. We are delighted to continue our partnership with the NAS to ensure service members have greater access to higher education opportunities.”
Dr Frances Hardiman, Head (Carlow) of Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment.
SETU’s programme in Applied Leadership and People Management course was developed in collaboration with NAS. The one-year programme was designed to enhance participants’ leadership, management, and decision-making capabilities through a blend of onsite and online learning, including interactive workshops, presentations, and group-based activities.
The programme equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to lead teams effectively and manage resources efficiently within the NAS. Modules include Leadership Mindsets and Performance, Project and Risk Management, Employment Law, Organisational Behaviour, and Critical Incident Stress Management. Emphasis is placed on emotional intelligence, ethical leadership, and understanding that how an organisation operates is as vital as what it achieves.
“Sincere congratulations to all graduates. These graduates now return to their roles in the NAS as empowered leaders ready to shape the future of emergency care in Ireland. Their achievement stands as a testament to the power of education, the strength of collaboration, and the unwavering commitment of the NAS to professional excellence."
Anne Meaney, Head of Extended Campus at SETU.
Many graduates entered the programme through SETU’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway, drawing on significant professional experience from roles such as Operations Resource Managers, First Line Officers, and Administrative Managers.
