South East Technological University (SETU) is inviting applications for the INNOVISION programme, which will recruit up to six postdoctoral researchers across SETU and the University of Iceland in the broad interdisciplinary field of vision research.

The recruitment call opens on 15 June and will remain open until 5 October 2026. The highly competitive, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)-aligned postdoctoral fellowships are open to researchers who have completed a PhD, or who have submitted and successfully defended their thesis without major corrections, by the application deadline.

INNOVISION (Innovative Ocular Therapeutics through Engagement and Interdisciplinary Vision Research) is a Horizon Europe COFUND programme coordinated by SETU. The programme brings together researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and patient advocacy organisations to address the growing global challenges of vision impairment and ocular disease through innovative and interdisciplinary research.

Successful candidates will undertake 2.5-year posts and benefit from structured training, international collaboration, and opportunities to develop independent research projects within a global research network.

A key feature of the programme is the opportunity for researchers to undertake international, interdisciplinary, or intersectoral secondments of up to 10 months. These secondments will provide valuable opportunities to gain new skills, develop professional networks, and gain experience across a range of research and professional settings.

Dr Laurence Fitzhenry, Programme Coordinator for INNOVISION and Head of Faculty of Science and Computing

Vision impairment and ocular disease represent significant global health challenges, affecting the quality of life for millions of people worldwide. Through collaboration across disciplines and sectors, INNOVISION aims to support research that contributes to new therapies, technologies, and approaches that can improve outcomes for people living with ocular conditions.

Commenting on the recruitment, Dr Laurence Fitzhenry, Programme Coordinator for INNOVISION and Head of Faculty of Science and Computing, said:  "INNOVISION represents a major investment in the future of vision research. By supporting outstanding researchers and fostering collaboration across academia, industry, and society, we aim to drive discoveries that will ultimately improve outcomes for patients worldwide.”

Tess Ames, Programme Manager for INNOVISION, added: "INNOVISION is an opportunity to support the next generation of vision researchers as they develop the skills, experience, and international networks needed to drive future discoveries. We look forward to welcoming talented fellows who will help shape the future of eye research and innovation".
