Spring Open Evening welcomed students and their parents/guardians to explore vibrant university life at South East Technological University’s (SETU) Cork Road Campus in Waterford.

Leaving Certificate students and their parents/guardians from across the south east and beyond descended on SETU’s Cork Road Campus on Thursday, 23 April.

Designed for those applying for undergraduate courses through the CAO, as well as individuals considering postgraduate, part-time, or professional development opportunities, the evening provided valuable insights into life as an SETU student.

Showcasing SETU

Showcasing SETU

From live demonstrations, workshops and Try SETU events, to talks and presentations, the event allowed attendees to engage with the SETU community. Through talking to lecturers and support staff, prospective students had the chance to explore their chosen fields of study, and receive information on fees, grants, and student supports. Guided campus tours showcased SETU’s state-of-the-art facilities, while current students shared their experiences of university life.

Selecting the right path

The Spring Open Evening also allowed CAO applicants to involve their parents, guardians, and friends in their university decision-making process, helping them select the right path for their future.

Dr Derek O'Byrne, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Teaching & Learning, SETU commented, “We encourage prospective students to research their options thoroughly, ask the right questions, and choose a course that aligns with their career aspirations, strengths, and interests.”

Upcoming open evenings

With one more Spring Open Day coming up, Dr Derek O’Byrne is delighted to invite prospective students and their families to the Kilkenny Road Campus in Carlow on Saturday, 9 May from 10am until 2pm. Emphasising the importance of in-person campus events, he stated: “Our Spring Open Evenings reflect our ‘right student, right programme’ approach, ensuring that students make informed decisions about their future. We encourage prospective students to research their options thoroughly, ask the right questions, and choose a course that aligns with their career aspirations, strengths, and interests.”
