Domestic and gender-based violence and abuse (DGBVA) is a widespread and deeply complex issue affecting individuals, families, and communities across Ireland and beyond. Understanding how to respond effectively and sensitively is a crucial skill — not only for frontline professionals but for anyone working in roles where trust, safety, and support are key.

This nationally recognised Level 8 Certificate is designed to give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a real difference in the lives of those impacted by DGBVA. Rooted in trauma-informed practice and grounded in the SAFE Ireland Principles of Practice, this course equips you with a strong theoretical foundation, as well as practical tools for intervention, advocacy, and support.

You’ll be supported throughout your journey via a rich virtual learning environment (Blackboard), practical teaching strategies, and a strong emphasis on collaborative and independent learning.
