South East Technological University (SETU) will bring its One Health vision “Connecting People and Planet” to life at this year’s National Ploughing Championships, demonstrating how the concept can be translated into practical, everyday actions that support health and wellbeing.
Through a programme of talks, demonstrations and workshops, SETU will explore the connections between people, food, creativity, sustainability and wellbeing. Across the three days, SETU staff will share their expertise through engaging and accessible demonstrations each day at 11am.
The programme begins on Tuesday, 15 September with “Embroidery for Wellbeing”, presented by Dr Aileen Murphy, Programme Leader, BA (Hons) Home Economics. The session will explore the mindful art of embroidery and how creative activities can support mental wellbeing.
On Wednesday, 16 September, Edward Hayden, Programme Leader, Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts, will present “Food to Love”. The demonstration will show how Irish-sourced ingredients can be transformed into delicious, nutritious and sustainable dishes.
The programme concludes on Thursday, 17 September with a medicinal mocktail demonstration, presented by Nuala Gordon, Programme Leader, BA (Hons) Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Services. Visitors will be invited to enjoy a fun and refreshing demonstration showcasing creative drinks made using healthy, locally sourced ingredients.
The activities demonstrate how wellbeing, sustainable food, creativity and education are interconnected.
The SETU stand will also be a hub for prospective students, with faculty members from a broad range of disciplines and members of the Student Recruitment team on hand throughout the three days to answer questions about courses, study opportunities and life at SETU.
Visitors can also enjoy games, activities and giveaways across the three days, making the stand a fun place to be for prospective students, families and the wider public.
Call to SETU at Stand 154, Row 8, Block 4 throughout the National Ploughing Championships and take part in the programme of activities.
