SETU first-year Business students visited Wexford LEO, learning about enterprise supports and its strong national job creation record, inspiring future entrepreneurs.
First-year Business students from SETU enjoyed an engaging and informative visit to their Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in Wexford. They received a warm welcome from Breege Cosgrave, Head of Enterprise and Economic Development at Wexford LEO, who delivered an insightful presentation.
During the visit, students were introduced to the vital role that Wexford LEO plays in supporting entrepreneurship and driving economic growth in the region. Breege shared key insights into the performance and impact of the office, noting that Wexford LEO currently holds the third-highest job creation figures across the national LEO network. Impressively, the office has maintained a top three national ranking for the past five consecutive years, demonstrating continuous strength in nurturing and scaling local businesses.
Students were also provided with an overview of the wide range of supports available to start-up and early-stage companies, including mentoring, financial assistance, training programmes, and innovation supports. These services were brought to life through case examples of successful local enterprises, such as holos skincare, biostor, Wild about, Killowen Farm, Machinelab, and recently award-winning Eco Kinly, and Sully and Juno.
SETU lecturer, Edel Glowatz, who accompanied the group said, “The visit offered students valuable real-world insights into enterprise development, innovation, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in County Wexford, hopefully it plants a seed that they have the power to become entrepreneurs of the future."
