Studying Irish at SETU will give you the opportunity to continue your study of the language and develop your knowledge of the language, its literature and culture through the medium of Irish.

As part of the Joint Honours Degree, you will study the language from a variety of perspectives and specialisms including its traditions and customs, folklore, Irish language dialects, place names, Irish language media, Irish language literature and contemporary issues regarding Irish language development within and outside of the Gaeltacht from a sociolinguistic perspective. There are opportunities to speak the language and to use it in a variety of different contexts.
