Law is available at SETU as part of the Joint Honours Degree Bachelor of Arts (Honours) [SE200] and as a Minor element on the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology.

This is an exciting new development in SETU as it opens up a new pathway for students who wish to work in this highly popular field. The inclusion of Law on the Joint Honours Degree facilitate the exploration of key legal modules while complementing this with another discipline. Inter-disciplinary education develops different theoretical perspectives and contributes to personal and career development.

Students who wish to work in legal professions must complete a graduate law conversion course after the Arts degree or join Year 3 of the SETU LLB in Waterford.

On completion of SE200 graduates who wish to become a solicitor are eligible to complete the FE1 entrance examinations for the Law Society's Professional Practice Course. The FE1s examine eight core law subjects, some of which are included on the BA(Hons).

Alternatively, on successful completion of the programme, graduates may elect to pursue a two-year accelerated honours law degree (Bachelor of Laws (Hons)) in SETU. The LLB is an approved degree for King’s Inns, the law school which is responsible for training and admitting legal professionals who wish to be awarded the degree of Barrister-at-Law.
