Courses, Entry Requirements and Applications

Once our application portal opens, the link to apply will appear on the course page. Subject to satisfying the aforementioned entry criteria, applicants will be offered places on a first-come-first-served basis per their application submission.

Once you have submitted your application through the portal, you’ll automatically receive an email from SETU confirming that your application has been received.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for January and September intakes. January entry usually opens in October or November, while September entry typically opens in November or December. Timelines can differ by programme, so you should always check the individual programme page for the most accurate information.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, subject to deadlines, programme capacity and applicant type.

There is a €35 non-refundable application fee payable when submitting your application.

For taught postgraduate applications you will typically need a full transcript of your bachelor’s degree, a copy of your degree certificate, and, if applicable, evidence of English language proficiency. If your documents are in a language other than English, you must supply certified translations along with the originals.

Entry requirements vary by programme. Applicants should check the individual course page for the academic, professional and English-language requirements for their chosen course.

Many taught master’s programmes require a suitable qualification equivalent to Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications, but specific requirements may differ.

Admissions

SETU will review your application and supporting documents. You can view the decision through the application portal.

SETU aims to make a decision within approximately two weeks of receiving a complete application. It may take longer during busy periods or where an interview, portfolio or additional review is required.

The decision will appear in the decision history section of the application portal. If you receive an offer, your offer letter will also be there.

Log in to the application portal, open the application marked ‘Action Required’, select ‘Decision History’ and then choose ‘Respond Now’.

Yes. Your offer letter may include an acceptance deadline. You may also lose your place if the programme reaches capacity before you accept.

Deferral requests are considered individually, subject to approval.

Fees and Funding

Fees vary by programme and applicant status. Check the current postgraduate fee schedule or individual programme page.

You must pay at least 50% of the total fee online at the beginning of the year and the remaining 50% by 31st January of that academic year. Please note you will not have access to university facilities until the first instalment has been paid. You may instead pay 100% of the total annual fee online at the beginning of the year if you choose.

There are many supports and opportunities that exist for postgraduate students. With early planning and awareness of available options, you can find programmes that ease financial pressure and make postgraduate study more manageable. Funding options may include SUSI, Springboard+, Skillnet, scholarships and tax relief, depending on the programme and applicant’s eligibility.

Tax relief may be available on qualifying part-time third-level tuition fees paid by a student or sponsoring employer. Check the latest eligibility conditions before applying.
