SETU Psychology graduate Caoimhe Berry crossed the stage, marking the completion of her academic journey from criminology studies to international experiences.
Caoimhe Berry received her BA (Hons) in International Psychology from SETU, marking the culmination of four years of academic achievement, personal development, and international experience.

A spark that started early
Caoimhe’s interest in psychology began long before university. During her Transition Year in secondary school, she completed an online diploma in criminology and criminal psychology - an experience that ignited her passion for understanding the human mind and motivated her to study psychology at SETU.
That early spark grew into a lifelong fascination. At SETU, she thrived in an environment that encouraged both academic and personal growth.
“The course was incredibly engaging. From neuroscience to social psychology, every module added a new layer to how I understood people and behaviour.”
Turning research into real-world impact
One of the highlights of Caoimhe’s degree was her dissertation project, which explored stress reduction among emergency personnel using Tetris as an intervention. Her innovative approach to mental health research demonstrated how small, evidence-based tools could make a meaningful difference in people’s wellbeing.
“The project allowed me to combine creativity with research,” she explained. “I loved finding practical ways psychology could help people manage stress and perform better under pressure.”
A world of experience through Erasmus
Caoimhe also spent a transformative year studying abroad at the University of Malta as part of the Erasmus programme. Immersing herself in a new culture, she gained valuable insight into how psychology was studied and applied across borders.
“Studying internationally was one of the best experiences of my life,” she said. “It broadened my perspective and gave me the confidence to see psychology through a global lens.”
Community at SETU
Outside the classroom, Caoimhe was an active member of the psychology society, where she connected with like-minded students, organised academic events, and built friendships that would last a lifetime. She also represented SETU at an EU CONEXUS international student event in Valencia, where she collaborated with peers from across Europe on educational initiatives.

Looking ahead
With her degree in hand, Caoimhe was eager to continue her journey in psychology. She planned to pursue a master’s degree and specialise in forensic or counselling psychology.
“SETU gave me the confidence and the foundation to follow my passion,” she said. “I was excited to keep learning, to help others, and to see where psychology would take me next.”
