SETU is proud to partner with Waterford International Film Festival (WIFF) 2025. The festival includes an exciting programme of events highlighting regional creativity, innovation, and the power of storytelling.

The WIFF programme will showcase a range of work primarily from first-time and student filmmakers, with a selection of films from established professionals. It is a unique opportunity to experience emerging talent and for seasoned filmmakers to engage with new voices.

Speaking on behalf of SETU, Suzanne Denieffe, Head of Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Waterford), said “We are thrilled to collaborate with the Waterford International Film Festival in celebrating the next generation of creative voices. This partnership reflects SETU’s commitment to nurturing artistic innovation and providing a platform where regional talent can shine on an international stage.”

Festival Director Stephen Byrne added, “Partnering with SETU allows us to strengthen our mission of supporting new and emerging filmmakers. Together, we’re creating a space where education, creativity, and community come together to inspire the storytellers of tomorrow.”

On Saturday, 15 November, SETU’s College Street Campus will host two special blocks of short film screenings. The lineup features inspiring films from local, national, and international filmmakers.In addition to the screenings at SETU, key festival events will take place at the House of Waterford Crystal, where attendees can enjoy further film showcases, networking events, and the annual WIFF awards ceremony on the 15 and 16 November.

Select finalists and award-winning films will also be made available for online viewing via the Éiretainment platform from 16 to 22 November, expanding access for film lovers across Ireland and beyond.

The festival will close with a free social event at The Reg, Waterford City, on Sunday, 16 November at 8pm, featuring a special screening of restored Betty Boop and 1940s Superman cartoons.Please note, tickets must be purchased in advance. For full details, visit waterfordfilmfestival.net.
