SETU proudly hosted the South Leinster Post Primary Schools Athletics Finals for 2025 at its South Sports campus in Carlow, for two days of fun and competition.
The regional schools’ athletics finals saw hundreds of students from Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Kildare, and south Dublin represent their school in track and field events as part of the Irish Schools Athletics Association.
Junior and Senior Cycle students competed in a series of events over two sun-soaked days at SETU. The events included sprints, distance (middle and long), racewalks, hurdles, jumps and throws.

Donal McNally, Director of Sport at SETU, said, “We are delighted to host the South Leinster Schools Athletics Finals here at SETU’s South Sports campus. We have a vibrant sporting community in Carlow, along with a wide range of sports management and sports science degrees. With many students on our sport scholarship programme competing in athletics, it is great to host this event and further strengthen the ties with the wider Leinster community. We hope to see many of these students choosing SETU to progress their studies and we look forward to them pulling on the SETU singlet to represent our athletics club in intervarsity competition. These events provide a great opportunity for young athletes to get active, compete, build confidence, develop friendships and support one another.”
