The Corrosion Course brought participants from across Europe, the USA and beyond to SETU as part of an initiative connected to the EU’s COST Action programme

SETU hosted an intensive two-day international course focusing on Corrosion, that brought together male and female participants with an interest in corrosion and engineering. The course attracted significant international interest, with participants and interest extending across the Netherlands, Ireland, Algeria, Scandinavia, UK, USA, and Portugal.

The course was connected to the EU’s COST Action programme (EURO-MIC), to EUROCORR 2026, and was supported by the European Federation of Corrosion. It provided opportunities for researchers, academics, and industry professionals to share expertise, develop networks and strengthen international collaboration.

Each day of the course started at 8am and finished at 4pm, getting through five modules per day. David Culiton PhD, engCORE Director and Lecturer at SETU said that:

Dr Torben Lund Skovhus, a lecturer on the course, commented that he “was particularly impressed by how well organised the course was and by the excellent facilities available at SETU. SETU provided an excellent platform for this international programme, and the enthusiasm and engagement of the learners throughout the two days were a real testament to the quality and relevance of the course.”

The course further highlighted SETU growing role as a hub for international collaboration, practical training, and knowledge exchange in tackling corrosion and materials challenges across industrial, renewable energy, and marine environments.
