Glór features work by students on the BA Arts (Hons) programme, as well as on programmes like Visual Art, Engineering and Computing and is the first of its kind at SETU.
Students at SETU have come together to produce a new literary magazine, which was launched at an event on campus recently. Glór comprises a selection of works from students across a number of programmes.
Glór was put together by the editorial team of Katy Fitzgerald, Kyle O'Toole, Sam McLaughlin, Jamie Ryan, Jodie Cooper-Jacob and Brie Phelan. The content spans poetry, fiction, art, reviews and interviews. Attendees at the launch at GrowthHub enjoyed live readings of some of the submissions, at a celebration that also featured music by harpist Ellen Harrison.
Glór has brought together a wonderful group of creatives! The process has allowed me to develop vital skills in collaboration and communication, and the editorial team and I couldn’t have done it without everyone who has supported us. It was only through the support of the GrowthHub and the ongoing encouragement from the Department of Arts that the physical copies could be produced and placed in the hands of students, which has been a huge motivator for future editions.

Commenting on the publication of Glór, Dr Jenny O'Connor, lecturer in English on the BA Arts (Hons) programme, said:
“The English lecturing team is thrilled to support our students in producing this magazine, and are so proud of how they’ve worked together to make it happen. Glór features work by students on the BA Arts (Hons) programme but also on programmes like Visual Art, Engineering and Computing, so it has become a wonderful way to bring our student community together. The editorial team has big plans for future issues and we can’t wait to see what they do next! We are delighted to say that the BA Arts at SETU is going from strength to strength. This is a testament to my wonderful colleagues and to students like these who are thriving at SETU.”

Funding for the first edition of Glór came from GrowthHub, and the second edition will be funded by the Department of Arts.
