Karl Haslam has joined South East Technological University (SETU) as Interim Manager of the SETU Xcelerate Centre on the Carriganore campus in Waterford.
We welcome Dr. Karl Haslam (BSc, MPhil, MBA, PhD), as Interim Manager of the SETU Xcelerate Centre on the Carriganore campus, Waterford.
Karl has extensive experience in management, innovation and technically focused roles across the healthcare, life science and technology sectors. He acts as an external examiner at Technological University Dublin for biomolecular science in their School of Biological, Health and Sports Sciences and is an author on over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Karl spent many years in the public health sector as a Clinical Scientist at St James’s Hospital in Dublin before moving into the start-up space. He went on to work with cutting-edge deep-tech companies focused on discovering and developing new therapies for underserved patient groups, using biological data and informatics/AI-driven analysis. Over time, Karl transitioned into senior management roles, leading teams, functions, and companies to successfully deliver on strategic business objectives.
