SETU feel that quiet spaces are essential in third-level institutions as they provide students with a calm, distraction-free environment to focus, reflect, and recharge. Whether preparing for exams, managing sensory overload, or needing a moment of stillness amid a busy campus, these spaces support concentration, mental wellbeing, and academic performance.
They are especially valuable for students with learning differences, anxiety, or neurodivergent needs, offering a safe, supportive place to study or decompress. In a fast-paced college environment, quiet zones help students maintain balance, clarity, and control. Our Carlow and Wexford Campuses provide intentionally designated quiet spaces and places across campus with our Sensory Pods, Quiet Room and Quiet spaces.
Quiet Space – Barrow Centre
The Quiet Area in the Barrow Centre area offers comfortable open lounge chairs, providing students with a peaceful environment for focused study, reading, or reflection. Designed to support concentration and well-being, these spaces allow you to relax and recharge between lectures or study sessions.
