Programme Overview

The BSc in Organic Agriculture is designed for students who want to lead the future development of the Irish organic sector. The programme equips students with a specialized skillset focused on organic food production, providing training that can be directly applied across the broader agri-food industry.

Practical Learning

Years 1 and 2 are geared specifically toward developing practical technical skills used in active farm businesses. Upon completing these foundational years, students meet the required standards to become eligible for the young farmer stamp duty exemption and land transfer schemes (Green Cert status).

Coursework

The three-year curriculum balances technical, biological, and business disciplines tailored to the organic sector:

• Years 1 & 2: Core technical farm skills and practical land sciences.
• Year 3: Advanced studies in organic agriculture, deepening student understanding of the underlying biological principles and business management strategies needed to succeed in the agricultural industry.
