Resources and Guides

This section brings together a range of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) resources, tools and guidance to support staff across SETU in embedding sustainability within teaching, learning and the wider student experience.

Resources include SETU-developed guides and reflective tools on getting started with ESD, using ESD frameworks for constructive alignment, curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment, alongside national and international sector guidance, research and practical examples from higher education.

The materials are intended to support ongoing reflection, curriculum enhancement and the development of sustainability competencies across disciplines, programmes and learning environments. They encourage approaches that connect sustainability with real world challenges, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement and transformative educational practice.

A range of ESD workshops, talks, events and supports are also available across SETU to encourage the sharing of practice, collaboration and engagement with Education for Sustainable Development. Staff are encouraged to engage with the guidance, networks and opportunities available to explore approaches appropriate to their disciplinary and professional contexts.

This section aligns with the SETU Sustainability Strategy, Ireland’s National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development to 2030, UNESCO ESD for 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
