Nominations ProcessEligibility

You are eligible to take part in a student exchange to SETU if you satisfy the following conditions:

• You must be an eligible student who is currently enrolled in a formal higher education programme that leads to a degree or diploma at a partner institution.
• Any registered student can take part once the mobility has been approved by their home University’s academic department.
• You must have successfully completed at least one year of your academic studies.
• An English language proficiency level of at least B2 is required.
• Your institution must have an Inter-Institutional Agreement with SETU before a study exchange can take place. Check with your home institution to ensure this agreement is in place. View the full list of SETU Global Mobility Partners on the Global Mobility Partners page.
• Traineeships do not need to have an Inter-Institutional Agreement in place, but they must sign up to the documentation issued by SETU.

Are my grades recognised?

As a matter of principle, the time spent at SETU must be fully recognised by your home institution. The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is the major instrument to facilitate academic recognition of periods of study in partner establishments. Recognition is given for the study period abroad by your home institution. A Learning Agreement developed between you and our academic department is a contract between you, SETU and your home institution that indicates precisely what modules you will be taking abroad.

For Traineeship mobilities, recognition is given for your traineeship abroad by your home institution. Again, a Traineeship Learning Agreement developed between you, your home academic department and SETU. This indicates precisely what your tasks will be, throughout your traineeship.

Can I work while I am studying in Ireland

Any EU Citizen has access to the same working rights and conditions in a host EU country. Students from countries outside of the EU may need to check with the local host embassy or consulate for up-to-date information on working eligibility.
