New Student Email Accounts for 2025/2026
For the new academic year 2025/2026, SETU is pleased to announce that all undergraduate students will be issued with a new @setu.ie email address.
- Your new student email address will be your [email protected] ( e.g. [email protected]).
- You can access this account through Outlook, included in the Microsoft Office suite. As a registered student, you are entitled to download and use Office 365 on your devices.
You will also continue to have access to your existing student Gmail account, which will now serve as a backup account.

Please use your new @setu.ie email address as your primary account for all university communications.
No. Your @setu.ie email is a Microsoft account, while your @mail.wit.ie email is a Gmail (Google) account. They are completely separate and do not sync with each other. Changing the password for one will not affect the other.
No. These accounts are not linked or synced. Any emails sent to your @mail.wit.ie address will only appear in that account. If you want to keep important emails, you can manually forward them, or set up a forwarding rule in Gmail so that new emails are automatically sent to your @setu.ie inbox.
Yes. Both Outlook (for your @setu.ie account) and Gmail (for your @mail.wit.ie account) allow you to set up your own forwarding rules.
