Registration for continuing students for the 2026/2027 academic year will be available via the student registration portal in late August 2026.

If your examination results are due to be released in September, you will not be able to register until those results have been released. Likewise, if you are not eligible to progress following the release of Semester 2 results, registration will not be available until the Autumn examination results are released in mid-September.

First year undergraduate registration
Registration for full-time undergraduate new entrants (first years) opens in September each year. Upon receipt of an email from us at [email protected] you can proceed to online registration immediately. You only receive this email after you have accepted your offer via the CAO This email contains all of the information about how to register, as well as your student number and password for online registration. A helpful How to StartSETU Waterford Guide is published in August each year.
Please note: Your Moodle access may take up to 24 hours to reflect your changed Registration status.

You will not have access to University facilities until the first fee instalment (50%) has been paid. Students who are in receipt of a SUSI grant do not need to pay this, you instead supply your SUSI application number during registration.

The Student Contribution Charge is set annually by the Department of Education. If you are not in receipt of a SUSI award you must pay 50% of full fees in order to be a registered student of the University and gain access to University facilities. You may pay in 2 instalments of €1500; €1,500 payable during online registration and the remaining €1,500 should be paid by 31st January at the latest. You can choose to pay the full €3,000 on registration if you wish.
Students who have exhausted their entitlement to free tuition fees are required to pay Tuition Fees as well as the Student Contribution Charge. For more information on SETU Registration and tuition fee charges head to the link provided below.
