For a variety of students, applicants may not be in a position to take up their CAO Offer of a place. An applicant who is offered a place in SETU may be granted a deferral prior to registering as a student for the academic year due to unforeseen and exceptional medical, financial, or family reasons. You may apply to defer your place by completing the online application form available below.

There are a number of important conditions in relation to deferring your CAO Offer that should be considered. Deferrals are granted on the basis that:

  1. The course will be available in the University in the following academic year.
  2. An applicant will not accept another deferral or attend another College of Higher Education on a full-time basis during the period of deferral.
  3. That the applicant will reapply to the CAO by 1st February, for the deferred place in the year to which entry has been deferred. The re-application must be made in the normal way via the CAO by the standard timetable, except that the only course which may be re-applied for is the course deferred by SETU. If you apply for any other courses your deferred place will be forfeited.
  4. If you want to take up your deferred place, enter the deferred course as your only preference on the CAO application form. You should only add other courses on your CAO application, if you no longer wish to take up your deferred place.
