Biography

Victoria is a Social Care Practioner with over 12 years professional experience, commencing in the area in 2007 and having been a former Social Care Student at  the Waterford Institute of Technology. Victoria has practiced in both Ireland and Australia. Victoria joined the teaching team on the Social Care Degree Course's in January 2016.

Victoria is passionate about providing support and intervention that is person-centred to all client groups. Victoria has completed further study within the areas of Family Therapy and Dementia.

Victoria has completed an MA in Child, Youth and Family Studies through IT Carlow, winning the Caroline Murphy Award for Acadmeic Excellence. 

Victoria also have a large interest and passion for professional wellbeing and resillence within the Social Care Area, having managed and lead teams during complex case work and large organisational change. Victoria's Special Interest Areas are in the Care & Support for the Elderly, Mental Health, Family Therapeutic Intervention & Support and Dementia support & research.

Victoria is currently course leader for the BA in Applied Social Care.

Victoria has also been a course leader on the Higher Certificate in Custodial Care. 

Victoria teaches on both Social Care courses, the Early Childhood Studies course and the Social Science course.

Victoria has expereince in moudle and course deevlopment as well as teaching experince. 

Victoria has completed a MA in Child Youth and Family Studies, completing research in the area of family support work and the engagement of fathers. 

Victoria is also currently part of a reasrch project in the area of mental health and community livivng. 

As part of Victoria's role within her work in Australia, she has been involved in program analysis and development from a management and leadership perspective. Victoria also has presented a paper (unpublished)  on Dementia Carer's and the Impact Upon Intimate Relationships for a National Dementia and Relationship Conference in Australia.

Victoria has been a practioner in both Ireland and Australia. Victoria has worked within the following areas of the Social Care Sector: Acquired Brain Injury, Family Support and Intervention, Family and Individual Case Work & Management of  a case work team inculding intake assessment and referral department.

Victoria has completed the above roles within the following settings; Disability Sector, Community Programs, Carer Support Program and An Aged Homelessness Program. Victoria has worked in both state funded and Commonwealth funded program areas (Australia).

These roles and settings have given Victoria the oppertunity to work with a wide range of clients, these have inculded, Families and Children, Young People with an ABI, Family Carer's, Mental Health Carer's & Client's, Dementia Carer's and their families, the Homeless inculding the Elderly expereincing homelessness, Chronic Health and Aging Issues, Complex Care Situations and Dual Diagnosis Issues.
