Biography
Susie has worked at the Waterford Institute of Technology (now SETU), Ireland for the past 24 years, initially in the Development Office and then for 17 years as Projects Manager in the Research Support Unit. As Project Manager, Susie's role encompassed institutionally research-driven projects and developmental activities to support research and researcher careers in WIT. She was responsible for the provision and delivery of support services for researchers at the Institute and has a proven track record in the development and implementation of a wide range of initiatives. Susie is successful in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, nationally and at an EU level in the establishment of cross-functional networks. She has developed and delivered internal research funding programmes, including the WIT PhD and Cofund Scholarship Programmes, the Grant Preparation Support Scheme and the Research Connexions Scheme.
Susie was appointed as Senior Project Coordinator in the Office of Research, Innovation & Graduate Studies in August 2020, where she works on research-driven projects within the University and in the development of new IT Systems to support research at WIT. Projects include the procurement, development and implementation of Pure, a Current Research Information System (CRIS), a Grant Management System (GMS), a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), and the further roll out of Research Connexions and Research Professional at SETU.
On a national level, Susie was Chair of the Institutes of Technology Research Officers Group and is a member of numerous national University groups, such as the Euraxess network and the Horizon Europe National Support Network. On an EU level, Susie works as an Expert Evaluator for the European Commission on the evaluation of Human Resource Strategy for Researcher (HRS4R) applications, project monitoring and performing site visits to Research Performing Organisations who wish to maintain the HR Excellence in Research logo. Susie is also a member of the EARMA Network (European Association for Research Managers and Administrators) where she completed the EARMA Certificate in Research Management. She has recently graduated from UL with a Masters in Project & Programme Management.
