Dearbhla earned her Master of Pharmacy from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin in 2010. Over the past 15 years, she has built a dynamic career dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients, fostering strong community relationships, and advocating for public health. Her experience spans a wide a range community pharmacy settings, from large chains to independent pharmacies. Throughout her career, she has held roles at all levels - support pharmacist, supervising pharmacist and managing pharmacist – refining her expertise in medication management, patient counselling, and healthcare delivery.
She has been actively involved in promoting health and wellness initiatives in the community, leading educational workshops and public health campaigns on topics ranging from menopause, care of the elderly, wound care, weight management, smoking cessation and disease prevention. She was a finalist in the Irish Pharmacy News, Community Pharmacist of the Year award in 2025.
Dearbhla is a registered Tutor Pharmacist with APPEL (Affiliation for Pharmacy Practice Experiential Learning) and has supervised numerous Master’s- level Pharmacy students over the years. She has also tutored several Pharmacy Technician students through the Irish Pharmacy Union’s Pharmacy Technician Course. In addition, she played a key role in the development of Over-the-Counter Assistant training programs during her time in community pharmacy. Dearbhla is also a fully certified mentor with Irish Institute of Pharmacy, supporting pharmacists in practice.
In December 2024, Dearbhla joined South East Technological University (SETU), motivated by a desire to shape the future of pharmacy practice. She brings a wealth of real- world experience to her teaching, aiming to mentor and inspire the next generation of pharmacists. Her research interests include public health, Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), pharmacy education and social prescribing.
