SETU attended the High-Level Conference on Equality, held on 9 September 2026 as part of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union
Nicola McEntee, Project Lead of the 'Supporting Family Carers across Ireland' project at SETU represented Eurocarers at the high-level event, which brought together stakeholders from across Europe to engage in discussions on equality, inclusion and participation.
SETU joined Eurocarers in 2026, strengthening the European dimension of the University’s work with family carers and creating opportunities to connect learning and practice in Ireland with wider European policy, research and advocacy.
Through the 'Supporting Family Carers across Ireland' project, SETU has worked to widen access to education and lifelong learning for family carers and to recognise the valuable skills, knowledge and lived experience they bring to education and society.
Nicola McEntee said:
It was a privilege to represent Eurocarers at the High-Level Conference on Equality. The event provided an important opportunity to ensure that family carers were represented within wider European conversations on equality and inclusion, and to highlight the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for family carers to participate in education and lifelong learning
Nicola McEntee Project Lead, SETU
SETU’s participation reflected the University’s continued commitment to widening participation, inclusion and engagement, while strengthening connections between its work in Ireland and developments at European level.
