First-year pharmacy students at SETU have received copies of the British National Formulary (BNF), sponsored by Boots Ireland, as part of an initiative supporting their learning and professional development.
The presentation took place during a visit by Lisa Buckley, Boots Teacher Practitioner, who met with students beginning their pharmacy studies at SETU.
The visit provided an opportunity for students to learn more about careers in community pharmacy and the bespoke Boots summer placement programme, which offers practical experience to complement their university education.
Each student received a Boots Ireland-sponsored copy of the British National Formulary, edition 92 (BNF 92), a widely used reference resource providing information to support safe and effective prescribing and medicines use.
“It’s a pleasure to visit SETU and connect with first-year pharmacy students as they begin an exciting journey in their pharmacy career and to introduce them to the bespoke Boots summer placement programme. The summer placement programme is a great opportunity for students to gain insights into community pharmacy, to contextualise their university learning and to explore the many career opportunities available to them within the profession. I am delighted to be able to present each student with their Boots Ireland sponsored BNF 92 (British National Formulary) a valuable resource which the student will use to support their learning.”
Lisa Buckley Boots Teacher Practitioner, Boots Ireland
“We are delighted to welcome Boots Ireland to SETU and appreciate their support for our inaugural first-year pharmacy students. Access to resources such as the British National Formulary, alongside opportunities to gain practical experience in community pharmacy, helps students connect their academic learning with professional practice and develop an understanding of the opportunities available within the profession.”
Dr Harriet Bennett-Lenane Programme Leader of the Master of Pharmacy, SETU
The initiative reflects SETU's commitment to connecting pharmacy education with professional practice and developing links with industry partners to support the next generation of pharmacists.
