SETU Library was represented at the LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Europeennes de Recherche - Association of European Research Libraries) Journées for Library Directors programme 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Dr Mary Delaney, Head of Library and Information Services at the University’s Kilkenny Road Campus, attended the event at the University of Copenhagen Library and Royal Danish Library. The leadership programme runs bi-annually and library directors are selected to attend through a competitive process.

In 2026, SETU Library was the only Irish library present among 22 university libraries from the across the United States, Europe, and Asia. The event focused on how research library leaders navigate an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world and how strategic leadership can help chart sustainable futures, balancing long-term vision with the need to adapt in rapidly changing environments.
Speaking about the programme, Dr Mary Delaney outlined her honour at being selected to attend the event and the benefits it brings to SETU’s library.
“This programme provided an opportunity for SETU Library to further position itself internationally, extend our network and build strategic partnerships. Additionally, presentations and discussions with eminent speakers provided valuable insights that will inform SETU Library’s upcoming strategic aims and initiatives. This was a very valuable opportunity for the library, for which I am very grateful”.
