SETU is pleased to announce its membership of Eurocarers, the European association working with and for informal carers.
The university’s membership marks an important milestone in expanding SETU’s impact at European level through bringing the national success of its family carers project to colleagues at the networks’ annual general meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
By joining Eurocarers, SETU becomes part of a leading European network dedicated to improving the recognition, rights, and wellbeing of carers. The membership provides opportunities for knowledge sharing, research collaboration, policy engagement, and the exchange of best practices with organisations across Europe working to support carers in their communities.

The 'Supporting Family Carers across Ireland' Project has been recognised as a first-of-its-kind initiative in Ireland, offering flexible and accessible pathways into higher education for family carers who may previously have faced barriers to participation due to their caring responsibilities.
SETU was represented this week at the Eurocarers AGM by Rosemary Flynn, Head of Department, Director of Lifelong Learning at SETU. Rosemary highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing support for family carers through European collaboration and engagement.
