Wicklow native, Justin A. House, studied Supply Chain Management at SETU before going on to work at Eaton, a power management company operating in more than 175 countries worldwide.
Eaton creates energy efficient products and services to help customers effectively manage their electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical power, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Eaton has a longstanding partnership with SETU. Eaton Finance Manager, Ultan Doyle, discovered the high calibre of students at the University when he spoke to supply chain students at its campus in Carlow. This visit provided Ultan with the opportunity to learn more about SETU’s supply chain programmes, help students discover more about the company and the markets in which it operates and apply directly to the company for work placement.
Work placement opens doors
A student on SETU’s Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Supply Chain Management, Justin had the opportunity to complete a work placement as part of the course. With the help of the programme’s dedicated work placement coordinator, Justin found an exciting opportunity at Eaton. Starting as a logistics intern, Justin was one of the first of two SETU students to begin work placement at the company.
I have to say, the team really looked after me. I was originally meant to stay for ten weeks, but my time there was extended to six months.

Career progression
After graduating from SETU, Justin successfully applied for a full-time role at Eaton as a Logistics Analyst and his career has since gone from strength to strength. He has progressed to the role of Global Logistics Programme Manager, coordinating freight bill audit and logistics sustainability activities for the company.
Sharing his favourite part about working at Eaton, Justin shared, “I love the people and the culture there. Everyone in the company is pushing and driving for change through various sustainable initiatives. It is great to be a part of.”
Future goals
Looking to the future, Justin hopes to continuously evolve in his work at Eaton. He says, “I want to continue working my way up in the company while maintaining an emphasis on my core values; sustainability and people.”
