The scheme is for students who are often under-represented in higher education.
The 1916 Bursary Scheme online application process for the new intake of students is now open, and will remain so until 5pm on Friday October 9.
The bursary is a financial award to encourage the participation and success of students from sections of society that are under-represented in higher education.
The eligibility criteria are primarily focused on first time entrants to third level education here in SETU, the majority of whom will be first years, and the bursary is open to full time and part-time students.
Bursary tiers
There are two tiers available:
- Tier 1 Bursaries: Awardees will receive €5,000 per year for the normal duration of an undergraduate programme and up to a maximum of six years for a part-time programme. The bursary will also be paid if the awardee progresses to postgraduate study.
- Tier 2 Bursaries: Awardees will receive €2,000 per year for the normal duration of an undergraduate programme and up to a maximum of six years for a part-time programme. The bursary will also be paid if the awardee progresses to postgraduate study.
