Conferring ceremonies are taking place for Level 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Major Awards Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October 2026. 

Level 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Major Awards include the following: Higher Certificates, Degrees, Honours Degrees, Higher Diplomas, Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees and Doctor of Philosophy. 

The ceremony schedule will be published online as soon as it has been confirmed by Management.

You will receive your email invitation to your student email account approximately three to four weeks before the ceremony start date.

All students have access to their student email account until after the ceremonies have taken place.  If you are experiencing any issues with accessing your email account, please contact Computing Services for assistance.  You can do so by emailing [email protected].

If you do not receive your email by Monday, 12 October 2026 then please contact [email protected].

onferring ceremonies are taking place in the Barrow Centre, SETU Carlow, Kilkenny Road, R93 V960 for both Carlow and Wicklow Graduands. 

The Carlow Campus is fully accessible.  If you are graduating, please let us know of any issues you may have accessing the stage to receive your parchment and we will do all we can to assist.

Each Graduand may bring a maximum of two guests to the ceremony.  We appreciate that it is a very special time for you, however, two guests per Graduand is the maximum that can be facilitated due to the capacity of the venue. 

You will be provided with two guest tickets for entry to the conferring hall as well as two guest refreshment tickets for after your ceremony. The official gowning company will provide you with both sets of tickets when you collect your gown.

Please be advised that the link to book your gown may not yet be open, but will be live on the website closer to the time of the ceremonies.

*Graduands are free to search for academic gowns and SETU colours on their own behalf, however, they must comply with the university’s academic dress code and colours for the award type.

There is parking available on the Carlow campus and parking attendants will guide you to a parking location. 

There is an overflow car park available at SETU’s South Sports Campus, Kilkenny Road, Mortarstown Upper, Carlow, R93 AYW9.

  • Arrive 1 hour prior to the start time of your ceremony. 
  • Make your way straight to the first floor of the Barrow Centre, room F208 Spinning Room, to collect your gown and 2 guest tickets. 
  • Give your guest tickets to your guests.  Guests will need these to gain access to the Conferring Hall.   
  • Get your photographs taken before your ceremony with Lafayette Photography on the first floor of the Barrow Centre, room F212 Activities Room.
  • Leave your guests at the Conferring Hall which is located on the ground floor of the Barrow Centre, room F001. 
  • All Graduands are to make their way to the check in desks at the Haughton building at least 30 minutes before their ceremony commences to prepare for the ceremony procession.  Check in desks at the Haughton close 15 minutes before the ceremony commences.
  • You may not be able to sit with your classmates during the ceremony if you arrive after the check in desks have closed – 15 minutes before the ceremony commences. 
  • You must remain in the correct assigned numerical order for the procession from the Haughton building to the Conferring Hall.  You will sit in this seat number in the hall which ensures that you will collect the correct parchment on stage.     
  • Marshalls will guide you throughout the ceremony to collect your parchment on stage and return to your seat once you’ve collected your parchment. 
  • Once the ceremony is over you will be guided out of the Conferring hall to the Agora where you can greet your guests, take photos and more.
  • There will be light refreshments for you and your two guests to enjoy after the ceremony has taken place in the adjoining Central Service Building. 
  • You will need to return your gown to the first floor of the Barrow Centre, room F208 Spinning Room, and then you are free to enjoy the rest of your day!

If you are unable to attend the ceremony on the day, you do not need to notify us of this.  Your parchment will be posted to the address we have on our student system for you by registered post after the ceremonies have taken place.
