Funding available for some part-time courses
Fees for part-time courses are most typically self-funded in Ireland. There are several schemes that part-fund some courses :
- Springboard - Springboard+ offers Free / 90% Funded [50% funded for microcredentials] Higher Education courses – typically 1 year or less - in areas where skills are in great demand in the Irish economy. All SETU courses are part-time and are delivered in flexible modes designed to maximise access including for people who are working.
- Skillnets - Circa 70 Skillnet across the country provide part-funding for courses in areas where employers are looking for staff to upskill and re-skill. Part-funding levels can vary but is quite often circa 50% and is only available to applicants in private commercial employment.
- SUSI - The SUSI fee grant contribution is now available for approved undergraduate major awards delivered at between 30-50 credits per year. Funding subject to income means test, residency and other conditions.
