This programme examines the key principles and substantive areas of European Union law.
You will explore the foundations of the EU internal market, including the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital, and examine how these freedoms support economic integration across member states. The programme also considers EU citizenship and the rights associated with movement, residence and participation within the European Union.
Learners will develop an understanding of EU equality and anti-discrimination law, competition law and market regulation, examining how these legal frameworks influence individuals, organisations and governments. The programme also explores the operation of Economic and Monetary Union and the legal mechanisms that support economic cooperation within the EU.
A further focus is placed on judicial and criminal cooperation between member states and the protection of fundamental rights under EU law. Through the study of legislation, case law and practical legal scenarios, learners will strengthen their ability to analyse legal issues, interpret legal sources and apply EU law principles in a variety of contexts.
