The Certificate in Building Capacity and Enhancing Leadership in Intercultural Understanding and Diversity is a QQI Level 8 Special Purpose Award designed for professionals who wish to develop knowledge and leadership skills in equality, diversity, human rights and intercultural understanding.
The programme examines contemporary issues relating to identity, culture, equality and inclusion, with a particular focus on their application within organisational and community settings. Learners will explore the legislative, policy and theoretical frameworks that inform equality and human rights practice in Ireland and develop the skills required to support inclusive workplaces, services and communities.
Delivered online, the programme combines academic study with practical application, enabling participants to critically evaluate current practices and develop approaches that promote equality, participation and inclusion within their professional contexts
This programme provides a critical understanding of equality, diversity and human rights from social, cultural and organisational perspectives.
Areas of study include identity, culture and diversity; theories of equality; race and ethnicity; gender and equality; interculturalism and social inclusion; anti-discrimination practice; community development; and the legislative frameworks that underpin equality and human rights in Ireland, including the Employment Equality Acts, Equal Status Acts, Disability Act and Irish Human Rights and Equality Act 2014.
Through assessment activities, including reflective and applied coursework, learners will develop the ability to analyse equality issues, evaluate policy and practice, and design evidence-informed approaches that support inclusive organisational and community environments.
All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme.
This award is relevant to professionals working in public services, local government, education, healthcare, community development, human resources, organisational development and the voluntary sector.
